For this show, I returned to one of my favourite subjects: the whimsical still life. Some of the compositions are not arranged according to my usual approach. They are painted from reference photographs I took while visiting Little Woodham 17th Century Village in Gosport, Hampshire, UK, last September -- though the birds were added in my studio. These pieces are special to me because this is a part of the world from where two of my forebears emigrated to eastern Ontario in the early 19th Century.
